Terms of use (N84 Grid)
DRAFT for legal review. Not in force until approved. Last edited 21 October 2026.
Who we are
N84 Grid is run by N84 Labs, a sole trader business of Kalvis Berzins, trading from Level One, Basecamp Liverpool, 49 Jamaica Street, Liverpool L1 0AH, United Kingdom ("N84", "we"). Contact: kalvis@n84.dev. Data questions: data@n84.dev. Corrections: corrections@n84.dev.
What the service is
N84 Grid is a dated record of what Great Britain's grid connection registers printed, on what date. We archive each edition of the registers we cover, compare editions, and show the differences with receipts (source, file, file date, retrieval date, file fingerprint and row). Some values are calculated by N84 (for example "MW ahead" in a connection-site queue and date differences); these are labelled "calculated by N84" and the method is published on the method page.
The official register always prevails. N84 is not a government service and is not endorsed by any data publisher.
No advice
Data is shown as published by the named source on the stated date. N84 may contain matching or processing errors. Nothing in N84 Grid is investment, legal, financial or technical advice, and nothing is a forecast, rating, score, index or benchmark. You are responsible for checking the official register before relying on any value.
Accounts
You sign in with a link sent to your email address. Use a work address you control. Colleagues who sign in with the same email domain join the same organisation while it has a free seat. You must keep sign-in links and API keys private and tell us at once if you think one has been misused.
Plans and payment
Plans, prices and allowances are shown on the pricing page. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing link; the plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. You have 14 days from payment to cancel and get a refund, less the cost of the service already provided. N84 is not VAT registered; no VAT is charged. Enterprise plans are governed by a separate order form.
API and fair use
API use is measured in units and limited by your plan's allowance. Do not try to get around limits, share keys outside your organisation, or scrape the dashboard. We may suspend a key that harms the service and will tell you why.
What you may do with the data
You may use the data for your organisation's internal purposes and quote individual values with attribution: the source's attribution line shown with the data (for example "Supported by National Energy SO Open Data") and "N84 Grid". On Free and Pro plans you may not redistribute the dataset or substantial parts of it, or offer it as part of another data product. Team and Enterprise redistribution rights are set by contract. The publishers' own licences continue to apply to their data.
Corrections
If you think a value is wrong, email corrections@n84.dev. We acknowledge within 5 working days and publish the outcome in the corrections log. "Source error" means the publisher printed it; "our error" means we got it wrong and fixed it.
Availability and liability
We aim to keep the service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue or opportunity. Nothing limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms with 30 days' notice by email for material changes. You may close your account at any time by emailing data@n84.dev. We may close accounts that break these terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
